TIGCWC ( TRAVEL INDUSTRY GOLF CLUB WESTERN CAPE) – CONSTITUTION:

Formation
The Travel Industry Golf Club – Western Cape was formed in 2009 and will be known as the TIGCWC.

Aims and Objectives

The aims & objectives of the Travel Industry Golf Club – Western Cape are:

  • To foster a spirit of good fellowship between members of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries through periodic outings to various golf courses in the Western Cape.

The Season
The season shall commence on the first of January and end on the last day of December each year.

Management

The Club’s affairs shall be in the hands of an elected committee consisting of at least three members, who consist of the Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. One other committee member shall be elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting each year. The committee has the option to co-opt a maximum of three additional members when deemed necessary. The term of office for the Chairperson shall be a maximum of two years. Not more than (2) two employees from the same Travel, Tourism and Hospitality related company may be elected onto the committee. The committee shall meet at regular intervals at times that the chairperson deems necessary. The committee will have the power to open and operate a bank account and to expend any of the club funds in a responsible manner. All payments must be authorized by two of the members of the committee who have been authorized to do so. (3) Three members shall constitute a quorum at any committee meeting.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM shall be held within 3 calendar months of the end of the season. An extraordinary meeting of the club may be convened at any time by the committee. 25% of the members shall constitute a quorum at any Annual General Meeting.

Membership

Membership shall be open to male and female members over the age of 18 who currently are employed in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Sponsor membership shall be bestowed from time to time on members as seen fit by the committee.  Sponsor members need to propose their sponsorship to the TIGCWC and it will be up to the discretion of the committee to approve their application. The committee shall be empowered at all times to make decisions binding on the membership where these decisions do not contravene the constitution.

Membership Fee
The membership fee shall be decided each year by the committee and be payable by 31st January of the current year. Monies shall be paid to the Club Treasurer and deposited in the Travel Industry Golf Club – Western Cape Account. The committee shall have the power to apply pro rata membership fees.

Forfeiture of Membership

Membership shall cease if a member falls in arrears with his membership fees and fails to meet this commitment after due warning by the committee. Membership shall also cease if the majority of the committee believe that the continued membership of the member in question is not appropriate taking into consideration the aims and objectives of the Travel Industry Golf Club – Western Cape.

Competition & Green Fees

Competitions shall be held 6 times a year at the venues decided by the committee. Members shall obey the rules and etiquette required by the host club.

Handicapping:

Members and members’ guests who are Non- affiliated (those not aligned to a club and who do not have an official handicap) shall be handicapped by a person designated by the committee. The member is to advise the committee in writing prior to a game that he/she or his/her guest is not affiliated.

Should you not be a member of a golf club, we strongly recommend that you join a club of your choice where you can have annual membership of a club, have the official NGN (National Golf Network) card (see www.handicaps.co.za) and most importantly earn an official handicap. You will also obviously get affiliated rates at other golf clubs.
